RSVP to receive the shoe order form. Shoes for School is an annual event that provides new shoes and school supplies for area children. These back-to-school basics give students stability and boost their self-esteem so that they can successfully start a new year in the classroom. We work with other nonprofits to identify and register children ages 5-12 who need the most assistance. Thank you Knoxville Area Urban League!
This 5-mile tandem canoeing trip on the scenic French Broad River to Cruze Landing will be a real treat! Interesting rock formations, wildlife, and lunch on an island will be enjoyed along the way. Participants must be 7+ years old.
Picnic with swimming, canoeing, hiking, and fishing on the banks of Melton Hill Reservoir.
Saturday, October 7th from 10 am to 2 pm. We’ll spend a relaxing afternoon in the open fields of Cades Cove, one of the most beautiful spots in the Smokies. On this outing join butterfly experts from the Great Smoky Mountain Institute at Tremont, to learn about Monarch Butterfly migration and catch and tag butterflies that are migrating through the area.
Tuesday, October 10th. Halloween Party! Join us from 5:30 - 7:30 pm. Matches can join us for a Halloween Party featuring pumpkin carving/painting, Halloween games, and Halloween cookie decorating! Be sure to dress up in your favorite costumes: Best costume wins a prize!
Saturday, November 4th. Time TBD. We'll take on the Mountain Challenge program at Maryville College.
We are partnering with Variety Children’s Charity to invite our matches and Little’s families! This event will be on December 2nd at Regal Riviera, 510 S Gay Street, Knoxville, TN and begins at 8:45am. Come destress and relax before the Holiday Season by doing some beginners yoga! This is Holiday themed, so it is sure to be jolly! Matches, come join us to make a holiday ornament! We will have clear fillable ornaments, other small holiday crafts, music, and treats! This could be a great gift for a family member, or yourself! This event will be at our BBBS office on Tuesday, December 12th, from 5:30pm-7pm.
Lost Sea adventure begins with a guided tour of the caverns (https://thelostsea.com/groups/). This involves a ¾ mile round-trip walk on wide sloping pathways. We will be taking the Flashlight Tour that takes us into one of the darker corners of the cave for a real caving experience (please bring flashlights.). Along the way, we will learn cool history about the cave!
Join us at Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies! Everyone will meet at the ticket entrance at 12:15, finalize our group tickets, and get inside in time to experience the Penguin Parade at 1:15. We will then have plenty of time to tour the many parts of the aquarium – Ocean Realm, Shark Lagoon, Touch a Ray Bay, Tropical Forest, Coral Reef, Discovery Center, and Penguin Playhouse – and to take in the live shows.
