Matches, come join us to make a holiday ornament! We will have clear fillable ornaments, other small holiday crafts, music, and treats! This could be a great gift for a family member, or yourself! This event will be at our BBBS office on Tuesday, December 12th, from 5:30pm-7pm.
Lost Sea adventure begins with a guided tour of the caverns (https://thelostsea.com/groups/). This involves a ¾ mile round-trip walk on wide sloping pathways. We will be taking the Flashlight Tour that takes us into one of the darker corners of the cave for a real caving experience (please bring flashlights.). Along the way, we will learn cool history about the cave!
Join us at Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies! Everyone will meet at the ticket entrance at 12:15, finalize our group tickets, and get inside in time to experience the Penguin Parade at 1:15. We will then have plenty of time to tour the many parts of the aquarium – Ocean Realm, Shark Lagoon, Touch a Ray Bay, Tropical Forest, Coral Reef, Discovery Center, and Penguin Playhouse – and to take in the live shows.
Come join us to celebrate the kick-off of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament! There will be games, activities, and dinner provided by Moe's Southwest Grill! PLUS, each group will have the opportunity to fill out a bracket, and the most accurate bracket by the end of the tournament will win a $50 visa gift card! This event is a drop-in style, so feel free to come anytime between 5:30-7:30pm. Matches and Little's families are both welcome to this event, but there is limited space! The visit will start with a special zoo encounter provided by the Zoo Knoxville Education Team. After that, the matches are free to take in the various zoo exhibits at their own pace.
Night at Knox Esports to play video games! *Video Game ratings will be based on rating with BBBS policy*
We will start the day at the Appalachian Bear Rescue Visitor and Education Center located in Townsend. Here we will learn about black bears and how we can co-exist with them. Then we will travel to the nearby Little Greenbrier Schoolhouse in the Great Smoky Mountains where we will eat lunch and see what it was like to attend a one-room schoolhouse nearly 100 years ago. This event is to honor and celebrate our graduates and those who have received a scholarship! This will take place on May 2nd from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM at the On Broadway Event Center (4683 Old Broadway Knoxville, TN 37918). Littles can bring a max of 3 guests to celebrate them at this event. Join Big Brothers Big Sisters for our Spring Fundraising Event! Hear from our matches, learn more about our new BoldPath initiative, and enjoy a delicious breakfast.
We will start the afternoon with a “Pond Party” where we will use dip nets and other collection tools to discover what lives in the several ponds around Ijams. We will also take a short hike to see what is blooming and leafing out during the springtime renewal of life in the forest.
Tie-Dye Party! Matches can come join us for a fun night of tie-dye! A bag, scrunchy, and headband will be available for each match, but feel free to bring your own item to tie-dye (while dyes last)! Lights, Camera, ACTION! Matches can get in front of a camera at a real TV studio and see how they make shows there. Littles will have the opportunity to talk about books and possibly be featured on air!
